SwiftServe Launches the SwiftServe CDN Federation

New CDN federation brings together leading operators with a combined subscriber base of over 450 million

Cambridge, UK and Singapore, 4 June 2013 – SwiftServe (www.swiftserve.com), the content delivery specialist, today officially launched the SwiftServe CDN Federation , which brings together operator CDNs built on SwiftServe technology and SwiftServe’s existing global CDN network. The SwiftServe CDN Federation enables operators to collaborate with each other to create the largest and most comprehensive CDN not only in their country, but also in their region and beyond. A number of operators in South-East Asia have already signed up to become federation partners. These operators have a combined subscriber base of over 450 million.

Operators have long recognised the need to get involved in the delivery of content, as a way to create new revenue streams and to optimise the use of their networks. Until now, they could choose to create their own private network with the help of equipment vendors, or work together with CDN providers, who provide a global reach but effectively, also compete for the same content publisher customers.

SwiftServe is the only supplier of CDN technology and services that has a stated aim of making operators leading players in CDN. SwiftServe provides licensed CDN technology, SwiftCDN, which enables operators to build their own private CDN. In addition, SwiftServe enables those operators who wish to do so to link their CDN to the broader SwiftServe CDN Federation, which also includes SwiftServe’s reseller CDN, SwiftServe CDN.

“By joining forces together, operators can generate revenue by offering their own content on their network, by delivering content on behalf of their content publisher customers, and also by delivering content on behalf of other partners in the SwiftServe CDN Federation; and they can do so without fearing the competition of their CDN supplier”, explains SwiftServe CEO Cheong Kong Wai.
